Yoga Asana (Postures)
An ancient practice that helps create a sense of union of the body, mind and spirit. It brings us balance. The practice of Yoga invites your body to grow stronger, more toned and more flexible as you move from one asana (or posture) to another. A regular practice has been proven to improve energy and vitality, while reducing stress and relieving pain. Yoga teaches patience, forgiveness and treating yourself with kindness. Anyone can practice Yoga, regardless of age or level of physical fitness. The spirit of Yoga is to explore the self and apply what is learned both on and off the mat. Wear comfortable clothing that allows for movement. Use a yoga mat for cushioning and safety. Mats are available for rent or you are welcome to purchase one or bring your own.
Thai Yoga Bodywork
One of the world’s oldest forms of bodywork, it has been handed down by masters from generation to generation and it continues to evolve to this day. During the session you relax as you are moved into various stretches that help tone and revitalize muscles and internal systems. This ancient, sacred bodywork incorporates rhythmic motion, energy line work, gentle stretching and assisted yoga postures in a comprehensive healing modality. It is performed on a special mat, in comfortable clothing without the use of oils. Anyone can benefit regardless of age or flexibility. Every session is tailored to your needs and can help to alleviate aches and pains including problems with the back, shoulders, neck, hips, legs, head and more. It is an outstanding way to help promote total relaxation and stress reduction. It is one of the best things you can do for your mind, body and soul. Please wear loose comfortable clothing such as a t-shirt and sweat pants. Refrain from eating at least one hour prior. Add an additional half hour for consultation/relaxation (15 minutes pre/post session).
Pranayama (Yogic Breathing)
Breathing revitalizes the body and helps to quiet the mind, giving us clarity and the ability to steady our emotions. Deep mindful breathing helps to improve lung capacity, oxygenate the body and regulate systems to enable and enhance proper function. Some yogic breathing emphasizes a deepening and lengthening of the breath which stimulates a relaxation response, while other forms stimulate the mind and body utilizing short powerful breaths leaving you feeling energized. Some breathing techniques are incorporated in yoga classes, while others can be learned while taking a class dedicated to pranayama. For more information on the benefits of specific forms of breath work contact us and we will guide you. Comfortable clothes should be worn. Cushions and blankets will be provided for you.
Yoga Nidra
A highly powerful ancient meditation technique originated from the Tantras. In Yoga Nidra the body, mind and intellect are completely relaxed and you may appear to be sleeping. In actuality, the consciousness is functioning at a deeper level and the subconscious and unconscious are opened up. The mind is in a state between sleep and wakefulness and is more receptive then when we are awake. It is here that we can train ourselves to relax. Wear comfortable clothing. Cushions and blankets will be provided, but you are always welcome to bring your own.
Guided Meditation
A peaceful time where you are gently guided in and out of meditation. This process may involve imagery, music or chanting. It is perfect for beginners and advanced practitioners. Guided meditation will be offered in a group or individual setting. Guided meditation helps with stress, illness and over all well being. Comfortable clothing should be worn. Cushions and blankets will be provided, but you are always welcome to bring your own.
Reiki
A Japanese technique for relaxation, stress reduction and healing. It is administered by “laying on of hands” and is based on an unseen “life force” that flows through us and causes us to be alive. If our “life force” is low we may become sick or feel stress. If our “life force” is high we are more capable of being happy and healthy. While Reiki is spiritual, it is not religious. Reiki can be performed on a massage table, chair, floor or wherever you feel comfortable. Loose comfortable clothing should be worn.
